2024 has been the year where more people have been getting into custom PC building that ever before. Perhaps it is the result of the pandemic shutting us all down in our homes. Regardless, we have all been itching to do something and assembling computers is one really rewarding hobby.

However, custom computer building is not all bliss. The search for the right component can be quite time consuming and tiresome. Lately, I was in a similar boat with my quest for finding the best white mechanical keyboard. The reason I settled on white is because I think that is the color that best went along with my minimal computer setup. The problem is, white is not a very popular color when it comes to keyboards, especially good ones.

The List of Best White Mechanical Keyboards to Consider Purchasing in 2024

The experience, in my opinion, was really eye-opening. So much so that I have decided to pen this article to help out anyone else who may be looking for one for their own setup. If you are one of those, read on.

#1. CORSAIR K70 RGB MK.2 SE White Mechanical Keyboard

Corsair is not a new name the field of gaming peripherals. This product is yet another testament to their decade long legacy at maintaining quality alongside aesthetics. The K70 MK.2 SE white mechanical keyboard has everything that you can ask from such a device. However, considering the price that it retails for, that is to be expected.

For the body, we are looking at an anodized aluminum frame. This makes it extremely robust yet lightweight, assuming you are someone who takes their own keyboard to events and LAN parties. The brushed metal also adds a premium look to the otherwise plasticky designs featured that you usually see in keyboards.

The keys are custom machined PBT, and the switch featured here is a Cherry MX with full RBG lighting support. The combination of these two things makes this the perfect choice for gaming where you need lighting fast key registers. To add to it, the keyboard offers some software features link anti-ghosting and custom profiles to further enhance the experience.

When it comes to comfort, thanks to being full sized, you’re unlikely to run into any issues no matter how big your hands are. What also helps is the fact that the keyboard comes with a detachable soft touch palm rest, making typing or gaming on it for hours on end a breeze.

Pros
  • Built in 8MB of cache to store up to three custom profiles.
  • PBT keycaps to ensure that markings do not fade even after decades of use.
  • RBG lighting and brushed metal finish offer a premium look.
Cons
  • The default customization software is not very intuitive.

#2. Eagletec KG011 Mechanical Keyboard

The Eagletec KG011 is the best white mechanical keyboard on this list if you are looking for something that is designed for extensive typing as well as those hardcore gaming sessions. It has to be lauded for exceling at both those tasks splendidly without making any drastic compromises or corner cutting.

This mechanical keyboard is a purely plastic affair with some metal trims and accents here and there. This may come as a disappointment to some people as plastic is not exactly considered a premium build. However, this choice of construction material is what allows this keyboard to maintain its splash resistant quality.

There is one aspect where this keyboard stands out above the rest and that is its ability to cater to both gamers and office workers. In order to do that, Eagletec has come with some really creative ideas and implemented them into this keyboard. For starters, the approach they have taken with the switches that this keyboard uses, is really out of the box.

Featured here is a custom engineered part that employs the best of both worlds. The goal is to achieve the perfect balance between rigidity and high response rate, and at that, it succeeds with flying colors.

Pros
  • Designed for both office use as well as recreation.
  • Spill proof elegant design with full RGB backlighting.
  • Groundbreaking custom switch design with plate mounted keycaps for reliability.
Cons
  • Proprietary switches means getting replacement is hard.

#3. Razer BlackWidow X Chroma White Gaming Keyboard

Razer’s BlackWindow lineup has been the defacto standard of mechanical gaming keyboards ever since it was first launched. The company has gotten mechanical switches down to a science. All the same features that we have seen in past BlackWindow iterations make a return here.

The buttons offer just the right amount of key travel as well as actuation distance to ensure ideal performance while gaming. Another reason Razer is often lauded for is the software experience that accompanies its hardware. The default customization software here, Razer Synapse, adds features that truly make this keyboard worth its price.

If you are wondering how does this keyboard differentiate from the other BlackWindow products sold under the Razer brand, look at the name. Yes, the key lies in the Chroma part, Razer’s proprietary RBG key illumination technology that breathes new life into your setup. Moreover, thanks to having Razer Synapse support, you can fully customize it to your liking. Best of all, all your custom profile settings, even those from previous Razer products, can be uploaded to the cloud. From there, you are able to access it from anywhere in the world. How cool is that?

Pros
  • This is the keyboard that you get for gaining an edge over competition in any game.
  • You get the peace of mind of being backed by a reliable brand.
  • One of the most aesthetically pleasing designs for mechanical keyboards.
Cons
  • Key replacements can get a bit expensive since you have to buy directly from Razer.

#4. Redragon K552W-RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

The Redragon K552W-RGB in a budget mechanical keyboard option. Just like most products that the company makes, this keyboard is also targeted towards gamers who are looking to step into the world of mechanical keyboards without breaking their bank.

Of course, at this price point, it would be ridiculous to expect the keyboard to have features that some of the other flagship models reviewed here. Even considering that, this keyboard not only lives up to its expectations but even surpasses them in some cases.

If you are looking for raw performance and do not really care about the looks, you can’t go wrong with this option. However, that in no way means that this keyboard is a slouch when it comes to the looks. You get a full spectrum RGB backlighting as well as a robust build.

The quality of the construction here is top notch even if the materials used here do not exactly scream premium. The keys used here are Blue Cherry MX switches, which while not ideal for competitive gaming, are perfectly fine for the normal enthusiast. All in all, the features this keyboard offers are hard to beat at this price point.

Pros
  • The perfect entry level board to enjoy the benefits of a mechanical keyboard.
  • Full spectrum RGB support with multi-modes.
  • Easily replaceable Cherry Blue switch.
Cons
  • Tacky plastic and metal allow build that most likely won’t stand the test of time.

#5. Razer Huntsman Keyboard

The Huntsman brand is the second most popular in the product range of mechanical keyboards designed by Razer. If you are wondering what is the differentiating factor between the two, it’s that the Huntsman, named after the fastest attacking spider in the world, is made for speed. And that is exactly what you are getting here as well.

Under the hood, you will once again find Razer’s custom mechanical switches, also called Purple switches because of their color. These, however, are completely proprietary, and any replacement that needs to be made has to be done directly through the company’s official channels.

Putting aside replacement options for now, where this switch stands out is fast tactile response. After all, that is the reason it was constructed from the ground up, and it surely delivers. If you are looking to get the fastest response time in a match, this is the only keyboard option you need.

Once again, all the Razer exclusive features are here including their industry leading customization software and RGB lighting technology. The build quality of this keyboard also screams quality with its aluminum unibody design.

Pros
  • The perfect blend of quality and Razer’s trademark aesthetics.
  • Bragging rights about having the fastest keyboard in the world.
  • Razer specific customizability is unmatched.
Cons
  • Key replacements are expensive.

#6. E Element Z-88 RGB Mechanical Keyboard

The E Element Z-88 RGB is for folks looking for something compact to go alongside their minimalist gaming setup. For a very economical price here, you get Red switches, which is quite unheard of is a keyboard that retails at less than $50. This also means that swapping out keys any time you want is a breeze.

If after looking at the price, you are thinking that this keyboard may be short on basic features, let me tell you it is not. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that you get everything here, from a fully programmable set of RGB backlighting to a metal body construction as well as quality switches.

What really blew my mind however, was how much attention has been given to every little detail in order to create this package that is all around very easy to recommend. Some instances of this that I noticed was in the intuitive cable management option, the gold connection pin and the rubber padding to name a few.

It also seems that the manufacturers designed this keyboard with customization in mind, as right inside the packaging you will find all the tools that you need to replace your keys with custom ones. It is also worth mentioning that the keyboard is designed to be fully water proof.

Pros
  • Special multimedia keys to enhance your media consumption experience.
  • The keyboard is full length in size yet it has a very low profile and is extremely light.
  • The full profile of the keyboard along with the number pad makes this ideal for office workers.
Cons
  • RGB color limited customization to a few presets only.

#7. SADES Gaming Keyboard – White

This is the most affordable mechanical keyboard option that I have reviewed in this list so far. Let me tell you, before I dived in, my expectations for this were not very high. Although I was a fan of the light blue and white theme from the very start. Imagine my surprise when I found out that not only does this keyboard look good, it actually works really well too.

So what do we get here? A lot considering its price. Starting from the contents of the box, just like the previous keyboard that I reviewed, this one too comes with a keycap puller. This means that the manufacturer expects customers to modify and change the product to suit their liking. That’s not all! You also get a set of custom keys here as well, this time pink in color if the baby blue starts feeling a bit old.

Since the design of this keyboard with its blue and pink caps is not very standard, I believe the manufacturers realized that an RGB lighting system would look pretty gaudy here. And that is why you get pure white LED backlighting. Worry not however, as it cycles through a few lighting modes to give off some really fun looking effects.

Pros
  • Easily swappable blue switches with the included keycap puller makes customizations easy.
  • Built in multimedia keys.
  • Full sized keyboard in a small profile.
Cons
  • No RGB lighting option. Just plain white LED.

How to Choose the Best White Mechanical Keyboard for Gaming/General Use? – Buyer’s Guide

The above was my hands-on impression on products that I personally tried during my search for the best white mechanical keyboard. As you can expect, due to being limited to a single color, the sample size I had to work with was not very large.

The thing is, however, that everyone is different. There are features that you prioritize that I didn’t give much thought to. On the other hand, I was really finnicky about some stuff and the absence of them would make no difference to you.

It is for very reason that I have listed down the basic criteria of a good keyboard below. Hopefully, this will help you make up your mind on which mechanical keyboard to buy based on your own needs and demands. Because in the end, you are the customer and it is your money. Spend it wisely after answering the following questions.

1. First things first, what color do you want the keyboard to be?

Let’s get this one out of the way. If there is a specific color keyboard that you are looking for, it makes no sense to waste time on looking at models that do not satisfy this condition. Filtering out keyboards by color based on the overall theme of your system really helps speed up the process.

If, in the event, that color is not a priority for you, move onto the next step.

2. What is the optimal travel distance that you need in a keyboard?

Before we discuss this, let us first clarify what travel distance entails. To put it simply, travel distance on a keyboard is how much a key dips-out when you press it. As you can imagine, this is one of the most subjective things as different people tend to prefer widely different travel distances.

Generally, mechanical keyboards have a much higher travel distance compared to say a laptop keyboard simply due to having more space to work with. This means that even the lowest travel distance keyboards are fairly comfortable to type on.

3. How big or small should the keyboard and its key layout be?

Mechanical keyboards come in various shapes and sizes depending on your use case. If you are someone that constantly works with the number pad, you would want something that has it. If you are a gamer, you may want customizable keys that you can map the controls of your game to. You get the idea.

The general rule is, the more keys you have on your keyboard, the bigger it will be. You obviously don’t want something that’s so big that it even overshadows your monitor. However, you also don’t want something that’s too small to even comfortably type on, especially if you have big hands.

4. Noise

Since mechanical keyboards are completely mechanical in nature, key presses are quite audible. For some people, that is the charm that only a mechanical keyboard provides. However, too much noise is distracting, if not for you, then those around you if you plan to use it someplace public.

Conclusion

Mechanical keyboards are a big upgrade over traditional, butterfly or membrane-based keyboards. The only way to experience the difference is to try it out personally. Once you have made the jump, it’s hard to go back to the mushy feel and build quality that generic keyboards offer.

If you are upgrading your computer, or building a new one, a mechanical keyboard is one of those purchases that are definitely worth it. The above products offer some of the best typing experience in the industry right now, and you can’t go wrong with choosing any of them.
